Awesome find

D and I were driving to get something for lunch Sunday when we noticed an old cemetary behind a chemical plant. It's surrounded by a stone wall and looked totally out of place in the industrial area. There weren't many headstones inside and the stones that remained all had fake, plastic flowers in front of them. Some of them had pieces of paper in page protectors attached to the stones with bright orange tape.

After wandering around and reading the papers attached to the headstones, we realized we were in the Old Franklinton Cemetary. A man named G. Royer takes care of the cemetary and listed all the graves on findagrave.com. He attached the biography to all the stones he could identify. A lot of the headstones were in pieces and scattered throughout the cemetary so he placed them around a memorial in the middle of the cemetary.

I want to go back again and take some pictures. I'll post more about the cemetary later.

How neat! Does G. Royer have a special interest in the cemetary, or is it his job to care for it?
